Men’s Health Awareness: A Mid-Year Check In on Well-Being

As the year reaches its midpoint, June offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on personal well-being. Men’s Health Awareness Month encourages individuals to take a closer look at the habits, routines and choices that support both physical and mental health throughout the year.

Health is not only about addressing concerns when they arise; it is also about taking proactive steps to support long term well-being. Preventive care, healthy habits, stress management, physical activity and work life balance all contribute to overall health and quality of life.

Daily responsibilities, work demands and personal commitments can make it easy to put health on the back burner. A mid-year check-in is a good time to evaluate what is working well, identify areas that may need more attention and make small adjustments that support healthier routines moving forward.

Many men delay routine medical appointments or overlook early warning signs due to busy schedules or the tendency to “push through” health concerns. Small, consistent actions such as scheduling annual checkups, improving sleep habits, staying active and managing stress can make a meaningful difference over time.

This month, consider one simple question:

Have I prioritized my health and well-being during the first half of the year?

A mid-year reset does not have to feel overwhelming. Introducing intentional activities can help build healthier habits that can carry into the rest of the year.

The workplace can play an important role in supporting employee wellness; starting with encouragement and creating a culture where health is viewed as a priority rather than an afterthought.

Easy Monthly Touchpoints

These can be shared via email, chat or a bulletin board.

Mid-Year Wellness Prompts

  • What is one health goal you would like to focus on during the second half of the year?
  • What is one simple wellness habit you could start this month?
  • How can we create a workplace culture that supports healthier lifestyles?

Workplace Wellness Ideas

  • Encourage walking breaks, hydration, and movement throughout the workday.
    • Take a 10 minute walk with the team or stretch break during a slower part of the day.
    • Start a “Hydration Check” challenge and encourage employees to track daily water intake.
  • Instead of sugary treats, create a healthy snack station with easy grab and go options.
  • Invite team members to share wellness tips that work for them or healthy recipes.

Encourage participation in ways that feel supportive, practical, and inclusive.

Employers that fail to properly complete or retain I-9 forms can be subject to costly civil monetary penalties. Fines can range from a few hundred dollars to several million dollars, depending on the offense and the frequency of offenses. Employers should review the updated fact sheet and consider conducting an internal Form I-9 audit to identify and correct any paperwork errors before any federal worksite enforcement investigations. Employers should also review their processes for completing and retaining I-9 forms to reduce the risk of errors and violations.
