National Family Reunion Month: Staying Connected and Engaged
July is recognized as National Family Reunion Month, a time when families gather to reconnect, share stories and strengthen relationships. While the workplace is not a family in the traditional sense, there is no denying that many of us spend a significant portion of our lives alongside our coworkers. Through shared experiences, challenges, successes and daily interactions; meaningful connections often develop.
One way organizations can strengthen these connections is by creating opportunities for employees to include their families and support networks in workplace events. Events such as company picnics, family barbecues, holiday celebrations, volunteer projects or community gatherings can provide employees with an opportunity to share an important part of their lives with the people closest to them. Family-inclusive events can also help build a greater sense of appreciation and understanding. At the same time, coworkers have an opportunity to connect with one another beyond their day-to-day responsibilities.
It is also important to recognize that family looks different for everyone. Some employees may have large extended families while others may rely on close friends, neighbors, community groups or coworkers as their primary support system. Inclusive events that welcome the people who matter most to employees help create a greater sense of belonging for everyone.
This month, consider one simple question:
How can your organization create more opportunities for employees to build meaningful connections?
Easy Monthly Touchpoints
These can be shared via email, chat or a bulletin board.
Feature employee spotlights that share hobbies, interests, or personal achievements outside of work.
Organize a company activity that welcomes family members and friends.
Meaningful connections help create stronger workplaces. While coworkers may not replace family, the relationships formed at work can provide support, belonging, and a sense of community that enriches both the employee experience and the organization.

EEOC Plans to Eliminate EEO-1 Reporting Requirements for Private Employers
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) submitted a plan to the White House to eliminate EEO-1 reporting requirements for private employers.
The EEOC has not yet announced the opening date and filing deadline for 2025 EEO-1 reports. It’s unclear how the proposal might impact the filing of 2025 EEO-1 reports. Therefore, employers should monitor the EEOC’s proposal and EEO-1 Data Collection page for any developments to remain compliant.
